Our engineers are directly employed and are always trained in our core skill set, as well as being continuously developed through a framework of regular 1-2-1s.
It is important to us that our staff can do more than just pull cable, so as well as their technical training, we ensure that our engineers can:
- Manage themselves and their workplace
- Communicate and liaise with the customer, being friendly and professional
- Manage the works through to testing and completion
- Keep themselves and others affected by their work healthy and safe.
Our core skill set for our engineers:
- Copper data cable, CAT5e, CAT6, containment, termination, testing.
- Optical fibre, installation, termination, testing.
- Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (cherry pickers and scissor lifts), work at height is a key risk in our industry so our team all undergo the IPAF training.
- Mobile access towers, our team have been through the associated PASMA training.
- Self management, site management, work planning, documentation and full completion.
- Customer liaison.
- Health and Safety: carrying out on site risk assessments, writing method statements. training in the Indigo General Risk Assessment
- First Aid (appointed persons)
- Asbestos Awareness Training
In addition we have engineers who have had further development in the following areas:
- Optical fibre, OTDR testing and fault finding.
- Confined space working
For high security or restricted access sites all of our team has:
- Construction Skills Certification Scheme – Safety Training and Card Issue
- Ministry Of Defence security clearance to SC level.
